I headed to the House of Blues the other night to see AWOLNATION perform with Mona and IRONTOM. So many capital letters.
IRONTOM were really cool dudes. I’m not sure how to describe them. Their lead singer is this kind of flamboyant guy, he’s dancing around stage, interacting with the crowd with a cheerful smile on his lips.
But they’ve got a pretty heavy drum and some killer guitar riffs. They’re like punk meets pop meets alternative.
Next up was Mona. Mona was originally from Dayton, Ohio, so they gave us a bit of Ohioan pride.
I was the only photographer in the pit and it was weird. I’m used to having to share with a dozen others, and suddenly it was just me.
Last on was AWOLNATION.
I love this band, honestly. They had a great light setup, their show was phenomenal – dark blue lights, literal black lights. As a photographer, it made me want to cry. As a concert-goer, it was beautiful.
I didn’t get many shots of the California-bred band due to the low lights. And my lack of talent.
